Zain Sponsors Al Taaref Soccer Season

Bahraini youth are gearing up for a high-kicking soccer summer tournament with Zain. The telecoms giant has once again renewed its support of the popular annual Al Taaref Soccer Tournament that takes place every July. This year, over thirty clubs will be participating and there will be some class soccer action to delight fans of the game. "The July Zain Al Taaref soccer tournament brings gifted soccer players from more than thirty sports clubs, sports centers and associations throughout the Kingdom to compete against each other for top prizes" said Zain Bahrain Corporate Communications Manager Samya Hussain. Above all, Hussain said, the tournament is an effective way for Zain Bahrain to promote its core beliefs of commitment to youth and encouragement of a healthy lifestyle and strong team spirit. "Since our inception in Bahrain in 2003, youth activities, education and empowerment of youth and people with special needs have been the main motivators of our corporate community outreach programmes," Zainalabedin said, "This is in fact the fourth successive year that Zain Bahrain has sponsored the Al Taaref Soccer Tournament and we are sure that it will be as enjoyable as in previous years." The tournament is also seen by the company as a way to boost grassroots sports talent and help to nurture sports in the Kingdom. Zain Bahrain has greatly expanded the scope of its sports sponsorship in recent months by underwriting events such as the Bahrain Marathon. The company is also a key sponsor of Popeye Racing, which is recognized as one of the best Car teams in the region. Other initiatives include a custom-built gymnasium for children with special needs at the Al Rahma Centre and support extended to the Sneha Recreation Centre, which is run by the Indian Ladies Association as a free centre for children of all nationalities who are differently abled.
