As part of inJAz Bahrain company programme, ninety-nine male and female Bahraini students from four secondary schools in the Kingdom participated in the Cambridge Young Enterprise International Exam conducted on March 4, 2008. The International Examinations Council organized this "company" exam in the premises of participated schools. The YAL Exam is one of numerous educational opportunities that the "Company" programme provides throughout the academic year to students in different schools in the Kingdom. The progamme aims at introducing the experience of running a real company's operations. The Exam has been designed to identify the practical skills acquired by the students through analyzing a case of a single company established by the students themselves as part of programme requirements. The programme is considered as indicator to the students' outcome from this experience. Participants were chosen from four secondary schools, namely: Western Riffa' Girls Secondary School, Sitra Girls Secondary School, Al-na'eem Boys Secondary School and Shaikh Khalifa Institute for Technology. Commenting on the students' participation in this inJAz Bahrain programme, Shaikha Hassa bint Khalifa Al-Khalifa, inJAz Chief Executive said: "following the previous successful year, we are now much more enthusiastic to devote more time and effort for this programme in order to better refurbish the skills of the students". "Bahrain achieved a foremost position worldwide as one of the best countries participated on last year exam and we anticipate better results during this academic year 2007 – 2008", Shaikha Hassa added. She also pointed out that inJAz Bahrain had carried out the "Company" Programme for four groups in four secondary schools. "This year students have shown more enthusiasm - the fact that encourages inJAz Bahrain to organize a local event on 18 March 2008 whereby the winning group will represent Bahrain and inJAz Company as well in the regional event next May in Muscat, Oman", she said. "The "Company" programme is an opportunity to the students to be involved in various activities in and outside classroom. This includes risk analysis and how to decide on incentives and bonuses by the company management through practical activities. They also have to establish their own companies and discover employment oriented options and developing teamwork in order to maintain recruitment skills. Within the competition context, students may present their projects to their parents, schoolmates and work sector to get further feedback. "The "Company" Programme has proved to be more effective and reliable as one of the most renowned and constructive educational programme that prepares young people to the real world of work and provides students the opportunity to demonstrate their professional skills on an international scale", Shaikha Hassa concluded.
